Tournament start date: The traditional starting date of the Texas Shark Rodeo, founded by Big Lou and David Williams, is the same day as the Billy Sandifer beach cleanup. Friends of Padre operates the cleanup, and we urge you to consider attending and volunteering at the event, scheduled for the last Saturday of each February.

We are pleased to announce that CCA has donated over $60,000 to Sharkathon / Texas Shark Rodeo for the purchase of tags. Make sure you enter the CCA Star tournament this summer to show your support for their participation in bringing this event to you.

We constantly experience problems sending emails to Gmail,Yahoo, and Hotmail accounts, they frequently change their policies and list our email server as spam. Please check your spam box for emails from TSR as they are likely to be placed there by mistake from your email provider.  

Texas Shark Rodeo (TSR) is a catch - photo - release team-oriented shark fishing tournament with an emphasis on tagging and collecting data for the conservation of sharks. This tournament is brought to you by Sharkathon with help from various sponsors as we secure donations.

TSR is in partnership with Texas A&M Harte Research Institute (HRI). TSR will be issuing tags and fin/clip vials for participants to help further shark research. Data will be collected via the TSR website during the competition. 

This event is a "Leave no trace" event and we greatly encourage all participants to not only clean up after themselves when fishing but do what they can to leave the area they fished cleaner than when they arrived.
